A deep-cleansing bar made specifically with acne-prone skin in mind.

Our Charcoal Acne Cleansing Soap brings together activated charcoal, kaolin clay, neem oil, zinc oxide, colloidal oats, and raw honey in a traditional tallow-based soap designed to thoroughly cleanse oily, congested, and breakout-prone skin without the aggressive ingredients found in many conventional acne cleansers.

Activated charcoal and kaolin clay help absorb excess oil and lift away buildup, while neem oil, zinc oxide, colloidal oats, and raw honey were specifically chosen for problem-prone, irritated skin. Grass-fed tallow rounds out the formula for a creamy, satisfying cleanse that doesn't leave your face feeling completely stripped.

Use it on your face or anywhere on the body you're prone to breakouts, including the chest, shoulders, and back.

Available in Original with Tea Tree, Lavender + Lemongrass Essential Oils or Essential Oil-Free for sensitive skin.

Large 4–5 oz hand-cut bar

How to use

Wet the bar and work it between your hands to create a creamy lather. Massage the lather gently over wet skin, concentrating on areas that tend to be oily, congested, or breakout-prone, then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.

Use on the face or anywhere you experience body breakouts, including the chest, shoulders, and back.

Start with once-daily cleansing and adjust based on how your skin responds. If you're dry or sensitive, you may prefer using it a few times per week rather than every day.

Follow facial cleansing with your favorite hydrosol and serum to replenish moisture.

Allow the bar to dry completely between uses on a well-draining soap dish to extend its life.

Benefits

Activated Charcoal | Highly porous activated charcoal has a large surface area capable of adsorbing oils and other substances onto its surface. In a rinse-off cleanser, it helps lift excess sebum, grime, and buildup from the skin.

Kaolin Clay | A gentle mineral clay with absorbent properties that help remove excess surface oil and buildup. Compared with more aggressive clays, kaolin is generally considered a milder option, making it useful in cleansers formulated for oily or combination skin.

Neem Oil | Naturally contains fatty acids and plant compounds including limonoids. Neem has been studied for its antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory activity and has a long history of topical use for problem-prone skin.

Zinc Oxide | A mineral commonly used in topical skincare for its protective and skin-soothing properties. In this cleansing bar, it complements the charcoal, clay, and neem in a formula made for irritated and breakout-prone complexions.

Colloidal Oats | Naturally contain beta-glucans, lipids, proteins, and antioxidant compounds called avenanthramides. Colloidal oatmeal is particularly well known for its soothing properties and its ability to support dry, sensitive, or irritated skin.

Raw Honey | Naturally hygroscopic, meaning it attracts and holds water. Honey also contains sugars, amino acids, organic acids, enzymes, and other compounds that have made it a longstanding ingredient in topical skincare.

Grass-Fed Tallow | A traditional soapmaking fat naturally rich in stearic, palmitic, and oleic acids. Tallow creates a hard, long-lasting bar with a rich, creamy lather and helps balance the stronger cleansing components of an acne-focused soap.

Olive Oil | Rich in oleic acid and traditionally used to produce mild, conditioning soaps. Once saponified, olive oil contributes to the bar's creamy lather and skin feel.

Castor Oil | Naturally rich in ricinoleic acid and particularly useful in soapmaking for creating and stabilizing lather.

Coconut Oil | Naturally rich in lauric and myristic acids, which contribute cleansing power and a bubbly lather to traditionally made soap.

Tea Tree Essential Oil — Original Version | Tea tree is one of the most extensively studied essential oils for blemish-prone skin and is known for its antimicrobial properties.

Lavender Essential Oil — Original Version | Adds soothing botanical properties along with lavender's familiar herbaceous floral aroma.

Lemongrass Essential Oil — Original Version | Provides a fresh citrus-herbal aroma and contains naturally occurring compounds such as citral that have been studied for antimicrobial activity.

Essential Oil-Free Option | Contains all of the same core cleansing ingredients without tea tree, lavender, or lemongrass essential oils, making it a better choice for those who prefer to avoid essential oils.

Ingredients

Original with Essential Oils: Grass-Fed Tallow, Olive Oil, Neem Oil, Castor Oil, Coconut Oil, Raw Honey, Sodium Hydroxide*, Activated Charcoal, 1% Zinc Oxide, Kaolin Clay, Colloidal Oats, Lemongrass Essential Oil, Lavender Essential Oil, Tea Tree Essential Oil

Essential Oil-Free: Grass-Fed Tallow, Olive Oil, Neem Oil, Castor Oil, Coconut Oil, Raw Honey, Sodium Hydroxide*, Activated Charcoal, 1% Zinc Oxide, Kaolin Clay, Colloidal Oats

*Sodium hydroxide (lye) is required for traditional soapmaking. During saponification, the lye reacts with the fats and oils to create soap. Our bars are then fully cured before use.

Why we love it

A lot of acne cleansers go straight for stripping every bit of oil from your skin. We wanted something different.

Charcoal and kaolin clay give this bar its deep-cleansing power and help remove excess oil and buildup, but they're balanced with tallow, raw honey, colloidal oats, neem oil, and zinc oxide. So you're getting a really good cleanse without treating acne-prone skin like it needs to be scrubbed and dried into submission.

It's especially good for oily, combination, congested, and breakout-prone skin, and we love that it can be used beyond your face for body breakouts too.
