Golden Hour Antioxidant Balm

Warm a small amount between your fingertips and gently massage into clean skin as the final step in your skincare routine.

For the best hydration, apply after your serum or spritz your skin with your favorite hydrosol first, then apply the balm while your skin is still slightly damp. The oils, tallow, squalane, and beeswax help seal in that moisture.

Use morning or evening on your face, neck, and décolletage. A little goes a long way, so start with a small amount and add more anywhere your skin needs extra nourishment.

Astaxanthin | A naturally occurring red carotenoid produced by microalgae and one of the most interesting antioxidants used in skincare. Astaxanthin helps neutralize free radicals and protect against oxidative stress caused by environmental exposure. Research on topical astaxanthin has also explored its potential to support skin elasticity, moisture, texture, and the appearance of fine lines.

Pastured Egg Yolks | Naturally rich in lipids and fatty acids that help condition and soften the skin. We use eggs from our own pastured flock, freeze-dry the yolks, and slowly infuse them into golden jojoba.

Golden Jojoba Oil | Technically a liquid wax ester rather than a traditional oil, jojoba closely resembles components of the skin's natural sebum. It helps soften the skin, support its lipid barrier, and reduce moisture loss without an overly heavy feel.

Grass-Fed Tallow | Naturally rich in skin-compatible fatty acids including oleic, stearic, and palmitic acids. Tallow provides rich emollient moisture and helps support the skin's protective lipid barrier.

Sea Buckthorn Fruit Oil | Its naturally vivid orange-red color comes from a rich concentration of carotenoids. Sea buckthorn also contains tocopherols, phytosterols, and fatty acids that provide antioxidant and conditioning benefits for dry or stressed skin.

Sugarcane Squalane | A lightweight, stable emollient that helps reduce moisture loss and soften the skin without leaving a heavy finish. Squalane is especially useful for adding moisture and supporting a smooth, supple skin barrier.

Calendula Flower | Slowly infused into our jojoba for its skin-conditioning botanical compounds. Calendula has a long history of topical use for dry, sensitive, and irritated skin.

Hibiscus Flower | Naturally contains polyphenols and other antioxidant compounds that help protect against oxidative stress while supporting the skin's overall appearance.

Turmeric Root | Naturally rich in curcuminoids and other antioxidant compounds. We infuse whole turmeric root into jojoba as part of Golden Hour's antioxidant-heavy botanical blend.

Frankincense Resin | A traditional aromatic resin containing naturally occurring terpenes and other plant compounds. We use the whole resin in our slow oil infusion rather than relying on frankincense essential oil.

Vitamin E | A lipid-soluble antioxidant that helps protect skin lipids from oxidative stress while conditioning the skin. It also helps support the oxidative stability of the oils in the formula.

Texas Beeswax | Forms a light occlusive layer over the skin that helps slow transepidermal water loss and keep moisture from escaping.

Antioxidant Support | Astaxanthin, sea buckthorn, vitamin E, turmeric, hibiscus, and the other botanicals in Golden Hour work together to give this balm a particularly antioxidant-rich profile for skin exposed to everyday environmental stress.

Astaxanthin is what makes this balm special. It's a potent carotenoid antioxidant that helps defend the skin against oxidative stress, which plays a major role in visible skin aging. We pair it with other antioxidant-rich ingredients like sea buckthorn and vitamin E, then add our pastured egg yolks, grass-fed tallow, squalane, jojoba, and beeswax for the rich moisture and barrier support we want from a balm.
