All about our chosen form of Vitamin C (THDA)

The shining star? Tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate (or THDA for short). This highly stable, oil-soluble form of Vitamin C is the new kid on the block of Vitamin C skincare. It’s considered to be particularly absorptive and biocompatible, as suggested by early studies. THDA offers antioxidant protection from both UVB and UVA rays, it increases collagen synthesis (even more than Ascorbic Acid), and it has a skin brightening effect by reducing melanogenesis by more than 80% in human melanoma cell cultures.*

Typically, the shelf life of this skin-brightening vitamin leaves something to be desired: most forms of Vitamin C oxidize and lose their mojo incredibly quickly. Not so with THDA—its oil-solubility makes it the most stable form of topical Vitamin C.  As a cherry on top, THDA is both highly effective and suitable for sensitive skin, while other forms of Vitamin C can be rather harsh (with reports of irritation, burning, and dryness). In summary, THDA appears to be more effective AND gentler than other types of Vitamin C. We’ve fallen in love!
