Did you know that lard (yes, pig fat!) is close in both lipid structure & pH to human sebum, making it highly compatible with our skin? While tallow has higher levels of saturated fatty acids and Vitamin E, lard has levels of  Vitamin D3, Retinol-A, and Choline that also outshine those of tallow by an average of 200-500%! Lard is also a softer fat by nature, making it even more of a melt like magic into your skin moisturizer!

Our Tub O' Lard Whipped Balm is gentle enough for the face, delightful on the body, and effective enough for the even the roughest & toughest hands & feet!

Purslane, aka little hogweed, contains polysaccharides (natural humectants) that help keep skin hydrated. Purslane is also known for its antioxidant & anti-inflammatory properties.

The cool and tingly blend of Tea Tree, Coriander, Lime, and Wintergreen essential oils makes this a great wake up and refreshing moisturizer, especially fresh out of the shower! It's also a primo choice for a post gym slather to help eliminate any nasties you may have picked up on the mats or machines, and great for cuts, scrapes, bumps,  bruises, and even sore muscles! Being a softer fat, it even works wonders on hair!

INGREDIENTS: lard, beeswax, jojoba, essential oils (tea tree, coriander, lime, wintergreen), rose kaolin clay, purslane

Lard is not limited to the kitchen! High quality lard from pastured hogs is rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, Vitamin E, A and D. This traditional fat is very similar in make up to our skin, which makes it very gentle and readily absorbed. It is wonderful as an oil-cleanser or a deep moisturizer, locking in hydration that continues to nourishes the skin.

Melissa became a chef focused on both nutrition and food sustainability. She competed in shows like Cupcake Wars and Chopped, while owning her own organic and sustainably minded bakery in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. While she poured her heart and soul into her bakery, her body was suffering from skin conditions and chronic joint and nerve pain from daily exposure to wheat. For the sake of her health, she closed her bakery and began experimenting with skincare to treat the eczema, psoriasis and hives brought on by her autoimmune condition.... and Vellum Street was born!
